This book is entitled “Sociolinguistics in Language Teaching” which explains that sociolinguistics is a branch of linguistics that is interdisciplinary with sociology and with the object of research on the relationship between language and social factors in a speech community. This book discusses the notion of sociolinguistics, language variation, language relations with age, gender and social status and language contact in teaching. In language teaching at school, sociolinguistics has a big role. Internal language studies will produce objectively descriptive language descriptions, in the form of a grammar book. If a descriptive grammar book is used in teaching, the difficulty is that the language variety that must be taught is the standard language variety, even though the book also records the results of the nonstandard variety.
